Website design for photogallery
I am currently working on the design of my web gallery and online shop. (see banner below)
Looking through the many open source and free software available for web gallery, I decided that we use our own gallery code. Same results as most major gallery but one which works and supported by the hosting company we use (Safe Mode on) and a lot simpler. The many I saw online does not support this, mostly do not install and have bugs. And all of them are complicated to install and most doesn’t have instructions.
Specifications for my Gallery :
- Gallery Index with Category thumbnails (manageable to as many as you like)
- Category with sub-category and thumbnails (manageable)
- Photo resize on management to make adjustments for website
- Photo Title and Description (editable)
- Tags
- Search engine friendly URLs (choice)
- Sitemap
- Management page (password protected), this should be the place to control, add and edit the gallery.
- This should be easily inserted in any web page template in a jiffy using labels or Ids (I don’t know what they are called but something like this “#content”). So that even non- programmers can make their own design and still add a gallery.
I know this list will be updated very often depending on whether I like the outcome or if I can think of something new. Also, I will not be able to have it yet since I need to give the list to hubby. I am quite particular with the end result so hopefully this should look even better. So temporarily, I will use flash for my gallery. I just hope my hubby have time to do some work on this though….
