perfect portraiture roadshow
Today is Calumet‘s one day Perfect Portraiture roadshow event at Calumet Drummond Street, London. It was headed by Dave Wall an award winning professional photographer who is quite not what I expected. He is dynamic and his photographs are quirky and original. He talked about lighting, lightmeters, backgrounds and took photographs of Paul another photographer whose got long locks and a D-3… not the model I come to expect in workshops

We were given a go to photograph with the set up and I must say, I really am happy with all (5) shots I took. (See my favourite two or three?)

There are three things I really am interested about at the moment, namely the Lansolite Ezybox which Keith Sanderson showed me. The list I came up with from the catalogue is way too much. From the looks of it, I will only need one 60cm Ezybox Hotshoe kit and a 38cm Ezybox hotshoe and the clamp. Currently I shoot natural light and my best pals are the reflectors and bounced flash… At least with my favourite photography subjects, it’s all I need.
Secondly, the Sigma table with Ray Fitchett. Unfortunately, he only got lenses for Canon and Nikon cameras I was looking forward to trying the 30mm f/1.4 lens… at least there is a 30mm f1.4 EX for Canon fit of the lens so I have an idea on how big it is. Oh well.. maybe next time…
Last but not the least, Paul Taylor from SWPP gave me useful information on the association and on how to join.
I really enjoyed it today. Thank you Calumet and “suppliers”.

loving this!
Was it worth it, booked to go on the Stevenage day?
Yup it is, for what it’s worth (free). The demo day is just a little review on what you need in a studio with recommendation from the photographer.
I tried to get on that i sounded like fun
