Worldwide Photowalk

Yesterday was Scott Kelby’s World Wide photowalk and I joined one location which is on the Southbank. I’ve done a lot of photowalks on this area but I was curious about this photowalk. The afternoon was not very promising but the group is :) I am quiet surprised to see a lot of new faces.. After attending and organising a lot of photowalks, this is totally new set of people. And for first time in a long while… Canon users outnumbered the Nikon users… well, I leave the camera bashing to Dave Newton our photowalk leader.

No matter how often you go to the skateboard park, you will still end up with a lot of images.  Last night, I only carried the new Olympus E-P1 with the pancake lens and the 14-42mm and I still got some interesting shots of the kids there.

I also tried off camera flash, but I only used it on a couple of kids I previously talked to. And considering the amount of disturbance I heard about blinding light I stopped when I got the shot I wanted (after 4 shots).

Then, I looked around for something different…

And with the grey sky, I played a bit with the pin hole art filter…

And this one was not meant to be pinhole art filter but she is moving fast and I just have to take the picture. Anyway, it work out well in the end.. even with the motion blur (and i did not put the IS on)

I did not bring my tripod so when it got dark, I tried something different which does not require a tripod :D

I put the camera on the bridge to keep it still for a couple of seconds.

This was a long exposure shot, after I couple of seconds, I tossed the camera thereby creating a multi-layered look.

This is a 40 second exposure at f22. The water was NOT as calm as it looks and it was cold.

On the whole, it was an enjoyable evening with a new crowd.
