A change of heart at last?

Welcome news : Police U-turn on photographers and anti-terror laws on The Independent.

Being a photographer and having been stopped by police officers 3 times of which I got the famous stop & search receipt for photography and for carrying a black backpack  almost half as tall as myself filled with camera equipment, the latest news posted on The Independent is welcome.

After the recent news about several professional and amateur photographer being stopped, I am hesitant to go to town to do some personal photography projects which included street scenes, strangers portraits and architecture because for the said projects, I wanted to use the telephoto lens Olympus 35-100mm f2.0 which is a bit big (and heavy) and very obvious.  I do not wish to receive another Stop & Search receipt before the year ends. A couple of curiousity chats and a  receipt within 18 months is more than enough thank you!

Doing street photography in London and  wanting to commute to London – are not very good reasons to stop & search an individual.

Anyway, I really do hope the message gets through because London seems nail the Photography UN-friendly City reputation down for good.
