Day Twenty Two – Making lists

I make lists of the gear I need whenever I have a scheduled photoshoot, whether its’ a wedding or portrait or interior session. There are just so many items to remember that it is very easy to misplace one and forget it. I am the kind who prefer to be ready so I carry more than I need. Although I try to limit it so I do not look like I carry my house on my back.

By making a list, I am able to make an inventory, give the exact figure to give to my insurance and realise how a “cheap” hobby became a very costly one.  I started with one DLSR body and two kit lenses. *sigh* Then, I thought, that was all I need.  I saw all these amazing photos online and on the books that I want to shoot and it went downhill from there. :-(

Photography is a very expensive yet rewarding hobby. Once you start-  be it as an amateur or professionnal, the list of your equipment will only get longer.  Depending on what you like to photograph, you either invest more on lenses or on the accessories like flashguns, light modifiers, etc. Once you’ve done this, you find another problem – it won’t fit in your bag!

Anyway, the good thing is most cameras have adaptors so you can use an old lens with it..  So my point is, if you already are into photography or is just starting a hobby, think and shop wisely.

Oh well, I hope Santa reads this because I need a medium Jill-e bag and a large/travel camera bag with wheels.

Thanks for reading!
