Daily Picture | Family portrait in the Painted Hall

We went to Greenwich sometime ago for an outing. We took my daughter’s birthday dress with us in hope that we would be allowed to take pictures inside the Painted Hall with it. As you can see in the image above that we did! It was great fun and I thank the ORNC staff who allowed us to do so.

This weekend, there will be a Royal Weekend event which promises fun stuff and fireworks.

Image taken with an Olympus EP3 and 14-42mm lens.

Daily Pictures | Happy New Year!

Hours before the clock strikes midnight, the whole family went museum hopping. We’ve been staying indoors (mostly) for the Christmas season so it was a very nice change to go out and have some fun.

First we went to the Science Museum to see some robots. We are fond of robots. As a matter of fact we have several at home in various state of completion. The most amazing so far is our Robbie, a Nao robot.

Then we went to see the dinosaurs at the Natural History museum.

We will be watching the New Year fireworks so, I am now wishing you all a very happy New Year!

Daily Pictures | Christmas

It was warm and dry this Christmas season and it was a nice change. For once it was not freezing cold and wet. Although we were hoping for some snow, nice and warm is much better.

We went to St Mary’s church on the High Road (E18) for the children’s service on Christmas eve. I loved that there were decorated jars with candles lighting the way to church. A very personal touch.

My children had roles during this year’s Nativity play. And it was nice to see them participate well.

Christmas eve we also remember the passing of my mother-in-law.

Christmas day came and went without a snow in sight. Well, there were loads of happy squeals in the house when the presents were opened. Santa filled the stockings with fun and funny toys.

We had Christmas lunch instead of dinner. On the table was the roasted chicken and home cooked ham. Chicken because it is smaller and will leave less (or no) leftovers.  The chicken was marinated in pineapple juice with garlic for a fruity taste and later stuffed with apple & herb stuffing with real apples cut in cubes. Mom on a mission…

Since my daughter’s year started their school concert, she hadn’t stopped asking where I was and why didn’t I take pictures when she is singing. Can you imagine how extremely betrayed they’ll feel if you don’t show up for your kids’ concert? So after promising her that I will be there and take pictures, today I am a mother on a mission more so than when I am taking my clients pictures. I will do what I can to show her I am proud of her and that I took pictures. I was hoping not to be that distracting by getting to school early but some parents were there way earlier so we got to sit in the middle area.

They were great, no mumbling and they were sure and confident. Although, I am okay with creative lighting, red and purple faces does not turn me on so most of the pictures are in black & white.

And so, I was right to be there. And after seeing her tearful & disappointed look, I admit that I didn’t care what some parents behind me think.  Yeah, it does not excuse my selfishness but my greatest passion is my family followed by photography. It just became imperative that I have  something to show her & praise her with.

So what would you do if you see your child’s disappointed look? I would do anything to make it better.

After she saw us, things are back to normal for her (I still have to carry on because she’ll demand it).

Daily Pictures | Christmas Market

On the Southbank in London, between the National Theatre and the London Eye is the German Christmas market. With lines of stalls mostly of original gift items and handmade creations. There are street food as well as cheap and dodgy stuff :-/ It’s up to you to see what I am talking about…

Anyway, taking the children there before midday is the best with less crowd and more cheerful stall holders. We had some fun running around.
